RESEARCH GUIDE

Find the source. Evaluate the evidence.

This area groups records using publication titles and source-reported publication types. A thematic match is not clinical guidance or expert assessment. Always consult the original study for methods, sample sizes, findings and limitations.

Where should a Parkinson literature search begin?

Parkinson literature spans symptom measurement, biological mechanisms, diagnostic criteria and treatment research. This guide helps distinguish the questions behind records that share a disease label. Before reading a result, check its publication type, date and original source. A review synthesizes earlier work, while a clinical study may examine a particular participant group and intervention. A publication title alone cannot establish whether a method is appropriate for an individual.

Narrow a search to a specific question such as symptom assessment, prodromal research, diagnostic criteria or measurement of progression. Enter a DOI or PMID directly when you know the identifier. Evaluate the study population, comparison group and follow-up in the original article. Citation count is a source-reported discovery aid and is not a measure of clinical certainty.

When reading a study

  1. Identify the publication type and research question.
  2. Distinguish human, animal and laboratory research.
  3. Assess results and uncertainty from the original text.
  4. Check the source for retractions and corrections.
